show_my_cannons | 11 - Action for Azalea / Text

[He jerks awake. Immediately, his hand goes to his chest, to the back of his head, fingers scrambling over his human form.]

[Everything is whole. Everything intact. There's no rust, no gaping wounds from Sentinel's weapon. Even the scars remain. His body is breathing, it's moving. Its systems are functioning as well as can be expected. Even his hip and shoulder feel better.]

[That's not right.]

[He hadn't made it out of DC. He'd felt everything go dark, felt his systems crumble away while he tried to fight to stand up, to shoot, to act and not let the inevitable happen. They'd been betrayed -- he couldn't lie down and let it happen. He'd tried, he'd tried with every failing piece of his strength to stay online. But it hadn't been enough.]

[And now he's here. Alive.]

[It feels like he's been gone for years. And it was -- since the battle in Egypt, it had been three years... His eyes rest on the 'gear.]

[For a while, he just sits in silence, staring at it, while gradually realizing there are people here who may be concerned for him. His team... his friends... they're beyond his grasp now. That realization in particular feels like a physical blow, and he has to bow his head and breathe for a few minutes longer before he can pull himself back together. His allies. His leader. Everything he'd fought for, everything he'd tried so desperately to return to, was gone.]

[There is no more going back.]

[Finally... Ironhide picks up his 'gear, and taps out a brief, halting message.]

How long was I out? Feels like... |

[He leaves the text unfinished, dropping the 'gear in favor of silence and brooding.]

I think th'wool helps keep th'electricity in or somethin', 'cause her wool's shocked me a coupla times.

[Evangeline looks at Ironhide and promptly tries to get close. He looks like he needs food. Or sleep]

... An electric... sheep.

[Come on, Ironhide, you've seen weirder things than this.]

[Napalm lowers her head, and curls her tail back around her trainer, watching the sheep.]

[Evangeline looks back at the giant rock snake.]

Yes. [Lottie seems a little abashed] Trus' me, took me a moment t'realize that I was seein' this right.

They all seem... odd. All of them.

[Napalm settles around her trainer, rumbling. Mine.]

[Okay, okay, she gets it. She goes back to Lottie]

Ironhide, if y'just figurin' out that th'critters here are a little odd...

... Been away from this place for three years. They all look odd again.

[Oh, right. Lottie frowns]

Sorry. I f'rgot.

Not upset.

[He falls quiet, trailing his fingers over Napalm's side.]

[Lottie stands there in silence, too, letting Ironhide get used to being in Johto again and letting Napalm do her thing.]

Y'want me t'go find y'othah critters?

[The big Onix is currently... well. It looks like she's snuggling him.]

Why not? Guess it... cannot hurt.

Be right back.

[Lottie goes in, leaving Eva and Ruffles out while she goes to fetch the rest of Ironhide's 'mons. She returns with four more balls]

These're all yours.

[He gives the small pile of pokeballs in her hands a blank look.]

... All I had were Jaws and Egg.

[And two eggs, Ironhide.]

Well, they said all four'a these were yours. Didjd have any eggs 'fore you passed out?

Uh...

[He really has to think about that. It's hard to remember little details like that after so long away.]

Maybe.

Then they prob'ly hatched. Here y'go.

[She passes the other balls over]

[Being Ironhide, and thus lacking any sort of finesse in throwing small, colorful objects dramatically, he just sort of drops them, to let the creatures free.]

[There's Egg, now an Aggron. Jaws the Ursaring. And... a Squirtle. And a Growlithe that looks less like a fearsome firebreathing puppy and more like a fuzzy hotdog.]

[Lottie just takes a moment to look at the babies before squeeing and kneeling to pet the Growlithe]

Lookit 'em, they're so cute!

[The Growlithe yips, hunkering down on her stubby little legs, while the boys take it upon themselves to push their trainer around, and otherwise roughhouse with the big old 'bot.]

[Napalm rolls her eyes, lowering her head next to the puppy, who leans on her.]

Now, y'all big fellas be careful. Ironhide ain't 'xactly back t'normal jus' yet.

[Lottie pets the Growlithe one last time before standing up]

Y'gonna name th'new ones anythin'?

Uh--

[He's understandably distracted by the well-meaning shoves from his team.]

Got one of them for its cannons. So... it will be Cannon.

[Lottie looks for a cannon-bearing critter]

...None'a 'em have cannons.

They told me the turtle will.

[Lottie looks at the newly named Cannon]

That's gonna be one big turtle.

[She points to the Growlithe]

An' her?

... Uh.

[The little ~~corgi~~ Growlithe wiggles in anticipation...!]

Dog.

[Lottie just gives him a look]

You ain't very creative, are ya?
