7 - Video / Action for Violet
[This should probably be a familiar scene by now, Jhoto. The inside of a Pokemon Center, with someone sprawled out and unconscious in bed, their attentive pokemon watching them the entire time. In this case, it's Egg, curled up in an armored ball, and looking up at his trainer every so often.]
[But nothing seems to be happening. If anything, Egg probably switched the 'gear on by accident, or someone else passing by did. The Lairon huffs, and lays his head back down.]
[...]
[Then, the big, scarred man on the bed starts to stir, muttering something groggily, and holding up a hand to examine it. He scowls.]
[And the feed cuts out -- thanks to Egg scrambling to his feet to greet Ironhide again.]

[He takes a breath, working out how best to explain all this.] A spark is like a heart, Ratchet said. And soul. It separates us from mere machines. Keeps us alive.
Makes us who we are.

No offense if I get this horribly wrong but it feels like I need to understand how this works just a little bit. I don't mean to be intrusive, it just comes with the whole doctor thing. Occupational hazard, you could say.
[voice]
I am not the best one to be asking about this. If my medic were here... [But he isn't. And Ironhide just lets that trail off.] Hmnf. It is physical -- a thing in your chest. It... keeps us alive. Makes us who we are. Without our spark, we are only shells, big piles of empty metal.
If it ever goes out... or is... destroyed... you are lost. A casualty.
[voice]
Y'know... the more we talk about this the more I think that there's really no difference at all. I mean, the componants are different but the purpose is the same whether it's flesh and blood or metal and screws.
It's a pretty common belief that the human heart is the home for the soul and if you lose either of them... well, that's it. Mechanics aside, I don't think we're that different at all.
[voice]
Not so different.
... Optimus would have agreed.

... He was. My friend... my leader.

You wanna tell me more about him?
