You might not believe it, but it looks like the further you go, the easier and easier to beat the gyms get.

[Or maybe it's called "you're grinding too much and the gyms can't catch up", but Crow seems to remain oblivious to that.]

So, you got the Fog one, right? If you go West, there's Olivine with Jasmine as the gym leader. She uses Steel types, so it looks like you won't have any problems.
