[Oh wow, look at all that. It's a winter wonderland out there -- since the video feed is apparently taken through a window. Snow and ice and sparkly white things! Isn't it beautiful!]

[And then the 'gear is set down on the windowsill, and a familiar snort of displeasure can be heard.]

[Ironhide's reflection can be seen in the glass, looking out on that scene of winter-y delight with an expression people typically reserve for something utterly distasteful. Like poo. Or bad remakes of good 80's movies. Certainly not the look one gives a nice, lovely snowfall in Goldenrod City.]

How much longer is this... eugh... stuff... going to stick around?

I don't think the Pokemon Centre has anything like a fireplace, so I guess just sitting next to a Fire-type is the best you can do.

...And long story short; letting a Charmander run around in your room while it's swinging its flaming tail around is a really bad idea. Especially if you want to sleep in a proper bed.

What is a 'Charmander'?

A Charmander is a little orange lizard with a tail full of fire which is pretty bad for indoors...

And I was preoccupied with something else at that moment, mainly trying to figure out what to do with a bunch of eggs my Ditto left behind... [ This is way back before Souji has even set up the Breeding Centre, cue lots of "OH GOD WHAT DO I DO" ]

[ And he gives a small nod. ] Some of them, mainly the ones we have at the Breeding Centre. Why?

[He looks away for a moment, and then holds up a Squirtle. The turtle just sort of dangles in his grip, making a face strikingly similar to a ":3" look.]

This one will not change.

[ Oh, hey there, Squirtle! Souji peers a bit closer to the screen as to take a better look. ]

You mean it's not evolving at all?

[The Squirtle actually waves a little, looking perfectly content to dangle there.]

I'm not too sure, but if they do, I can always offer to have you come warm up at my place.

Well, there's a few Pokemon that rather prefer not to evolve at all, since they like their forms, personality, or some other reason. I'm assuming your Squirtle is just like that.

Yeah, my house next to the Breeding Centre. We have a fireplace in the living room.

[ Must be cool just being a Squirtle and squirting people in the face with water. Ehhhh, ehhh, get it? ]

If it doesn't want to, probably not. You can't force evolution on it unless with certain Pokemon and items, but Squirtles evolve just by leveling and being willing to do change.

Yeah, a few people do. It's nice to finally have a place to go back to after traveling; a place you can call home.

It's still probably a really strong Pokemon, even if it doesn't evolve. The plus side is that it's faster than its evolutions.
